Deep in feudal Japan, the Nabeshima domain harboured a terrible secret. It is said that a black cat, fed on spite and darkness, killed a princess of the clan and took her place by borrowing her features. Behind its graceful appearance, the creature concealed its true nature: a bakeneko, a shapeshifting demon cat whose eyes gleamed with an unearthly intelligence.
Kurayami is a brooch collection exploring the legend of the Nabeshima vampire cat, drawing on the haunting aesthetic of Japanese prints.
