The campaign runs on Kickstarter, outside this shop: backing the project happens there, and nothing is added to your cart.

Light Hunters is a card game inspired by the Heroic Fantasy universe. It is played by 2 to 8 players, in teams, and is accessible to all. Build your battalion and decimate the enemy camp!

The story

Choose your heroes carefully, and face the opposing camp in an epic battle.
The surviving heroes of the battalion are then declared victorious and free to return to their world.

You play a powerful hero, and since your birth your name has evoked glory and a prestigious destiny. Alas, the Gods have punished you and exiled you for your sins. Yet one last chance remains: build your battalion and decimate the opposing camp, or be wiped out forever...

Did you think you could fight as you once did? Then you know little of divine perversity. Your skills are locked, and you must invoke Spirits of Light to use them. These 5 Spirits will gradually reveal your power.

The 1st Spirit only appears at dusk. You go back to the first stirrings of your skills and get a foretaste of your power.
The second Spirit plays with its iridescent light to grant you more power, to protect yourself or to chip away a little more at the enemy heroes' life.
The 3rd Spirit heralds a new day for your destiny; your choices become decisive for the future.
The 4th Spirit begins to restore the radiance of your past; time becomes precious, and Illumination will soon be within reach for both camps.
With the 5th Spirit, your glory will be complete and your full power finally restored.

But you lack energy. Where is the fire of your former days? It comes back little by little, each assault bringing back a bit more endurance. But don't be reckless: spare yourself and attack with strategy.

Game contents

  • 8 Hero cards + 1 "Skeleton" card
  • 40 tokens
  • 70 Spirit of Light cards
  • 1 rulebook

Setting up a game

Form 2 teams and place them face to face.
Each player can use one or more heroes, but both teams must have the same total number of heroes.

How a game unfolds

Light Hunters is a turn-based card game whose possibilities grow as the game goes on.
Each round matches its Ether level: 1st round = Ether level 1, 2nd round = level 2, and so on up to a maximum of 5.

A hero's turn

Each hero plays once per round.
To play a hero's skill, you rely on your Spirit of Light cards and on the Ether level available for the round.
You may choose to play or not; if you do, you announce the skill used to the opposing team and discard the Spirit of Light card(s) spent.
The hero's turn is then over, and the next hero begins their turn.
Once all the heroes have played, the next round begins and the Ether level goes up by 1.

End of the game

When a battalion has wiped out the entire enemy camp, it wins.
The surviving heroes of that battalion are then declared victorious, worthy of returning to their world, free and full of glory.

This is a simplified version of a game; feel free to read the rulebook to learn more :)

The eight Light Hunters heroes

The heroes

There are 4 classes that define each hero's fighting style: Tank, Fighter, Healer and Spellcaster*. It's a team game, so think strategically: cover your back and position your fighters on the field.

Jamshaid (Orc King - 10 life points) - Imposing and, above all, terrifying, he knows how to stop the enemy's momentum, the better to crush the opposing camp.

Balder (Barbarian Lord - 12 life points) - Brave and a born leader, he will push his battalion to give its best, even if it means stepping onto the front line himself.

Bergljot (Expert Archer - 8 life points) - Agile and quick, the proud archer boasts that she never misses her targets.

Ludano (Mysterious Swordsman - 8 life points) - Surely the most self-centred of all the heroes, but you can count on his skill with the sword to finish off the enemy quickly.

Lucrecia (Warmongering Witch - 9 life points) - Don't be too quick to dismiss her as a mad old woman: she is the one who will drive you mad and make you lose your nerve.

Merletta (Mischievous Fairy - 9 life points) - Devoted to her own, she will never let you down; her youth and healing talents will restore all your vigour.

Dagbjart (Hermit Druid - 9 life points) - Nature is in his power; watch where you step, or you might end up trapped.

Weyaya (Esoteric Necromancer - 8 life points) - Master of life and death, the necromancer brings back to the battlefield those you thought had fallen.

* Tank: defender/protector - Fighter: attacker - Healer: healer/support - Spellcaster: magician.
