In 1497, the great European powers turn their eyes towards the Italian peninsula. France, Spain, the Holy Roman Empire, the Ottoman Empire… all are ready to clash for the most prosperous cities of the Renaissance. Between fragile alliances, betrayals and military campaigns, only one nation will write its name into History.
Italia 1497 is a historical strategy and conquest game for 1 to 5 players, blending secret planning, diplomacy and tactical confrontation. Each turn, players simultaneously choose their actions, negotiate, bluff, move their armies and resolve battles and sieges before managing their resources on a dynamic market.
The game also offers an asymmetric mode with the Papal States, which a player may take on to defend Italy against the ambitions of foreign kingdoms, as well as a dedicated solo mode where you take control of Rome to preserve the balance of the peninsula.
